Hot Drink?

I am always asking people if they want a hot drink. It is undoubtedly because I appreciate them myself. It is not even for the caffeine! I just like taking five every now and then to pop the kettle on. Sometimes I’ll have one as I work, others I’ll clutch a mug as I read, browse or write. I appreciate the very act of curling my fingers around a steaming mug of something - even better when it warms your winter/ early spring/ late autumn cold fingers!

Have you ever heard of the Swedish word Fika? It describes the concept in their culture of ‘having coffee’ and taking a break with one’s friends, family or colleagues. I am sure that they have realised long before I did that there is magic in a hot drink!

I made this greetings card for a friend - just one of my favourite people to ‘grab a coffee’ with! To us, it is not just about the hot drink, but we really appreciate the aesthetic and ‘look’ of different cafes too! I’ll get a cappuccino, she’ll get a hot chocolate and its full steam ahead if there is a tempting piece of cake too!

Have a very merry Wednesday!

Weekend Snapshots: The Peak District

The Peak District is almost like a home from home. Every now and then we return and each time it welcomes us with open arms. Each peak and each village becomes more familiar, and yet every walk and every climb feels different whether I’ve done it before or not.

On Friday we walked up Mam Tor and along The Great Ridge in glorious sunshine. We ate lunch across from Kinder Scout, overlooking the Edale Valley. The next morning we ate breakfast as a couple of sheep and their lambs explored the garden. They’d escaped from their field!

Storm Katie brought wind and rain, and although we did get wet we were still able to walk some more, wander through fields of lambs and have some cider at the local pub!

I hope you had a happy Easter,

This Little Pig

Personalised cards mean just that. They’re personal and they might not mean much to the outsider. This was the case for this card that a friend commissioned recently. I could understand the reason why but the joke didn’t mean the same thing to me as it did to the recipient! That’s just one of the reasons I think handmade greetings cards are so special!

Have a lovely weekend!

Mother's Day

Another year and it is almost time to celebrate the mothers of the world again. Mother’s Day is this weekend on the 6th March.

On Sunday I’ll actually be spending the day with my mum, my grandmother and my auntie will be there too. A whole host of ladies to be thankful for!

They did a lot for us and they still do, so whether it is through a present, a card or a hug, it is about time we show our appreciation!

I hope you’re having a good week.
